Five or six brands account for the majority of US sales. They have meaningfully different strengths. TOTO is the engineer’s brand – quietly excellent, slightly boring. Kohler is the designer’s brand – beautiful, expensive, sometimes fussy. American Standard is the contractor’s brand – boring, cheap, reliable. Woodbridge is the Costco shopper’s brand – cheap, surprisingly good, sometimes weird.
